<p>How is it that Arabic numbers are written<br />
1  2  3  4  5  6  7  8  9  0?</p>
<p>What is the story and the logic behind?</p>
<p>The Answer is <strong>ANGLES</strong>.</p>
<p>Watch this little animated clip and you will see that<br />
the number 1 has one angle<br />
the number 2 has two angles<br />
the number 3 has three angles</p>
<p><span style="color: #cc0066;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-weight: 700; font-style: italic;">&#8230;&#8230;.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #cc0066;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-weight: 700; font-style: italic;">and the most intelligent of all &#8211; ZERO has no angles.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #cc0066;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-weight: 700; font-style: italic;"><a href="http://www.shirleyshannon.com/Blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/arabic-algorithms.gif"><a href="http://www.shirleyshannon.com/Blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/arabic-algorithms-2.gif"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-457" title="arabic algorithms 2" src="http://www.shirleyshannon.com/Blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/arabic-algorithms-2.gif" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a><br />
</a><br />
</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #cc0066;">Called the Hindu-Arabic numerals, the numbers were first invented by the Indian mathematicians, subsequently, the numerals were adopted by the Persian mathematicians in India, and passed on to the Arabs further west. From there they were transmitted to Europe in the Middle Ages. The use of Arabic numerals spread around the world through European trade, books and colonialism. Today they are the most common symbolic representation of numbers in the world.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: Arial; color: #fd0000;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">Apparently there is a standard procedure all paramedics follow at the scene of an accident, when they come across your cell phone. </span></strong></span><span style="font-family: Arial; color: #fd0000;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial;"><strong><em><span style="font-size: medium;">We all carry our mobile phones with names &amp; numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers/names belong to our closest family or friends.<br />
</span></em></strong></span><span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br />
</span></span><span style="font-family: Arial;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill o need emergency help, the people attending us would have access to our mobile phone but wouldn&#8217;t know who to call !<br />
Yes, there are many and sometime hundreds of numbers stored on cell phones &#8211; but which one is the best proper contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this &#8216;ICE&#8217; (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.<br />
</span></strong></span><span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br />
</span></span><span style="font-family: Arial;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">The concept of &#8216;ICE&#8217; is catching on quickly.  It is a method of contact during emergency situations. </span></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;"><br />
As cell(mobile) phones are carried by the majority of the population now, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name &#8216;ICE&#8217; ( In Case Of Emergency).<br />
</span></strong></span><span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br />
</span></span><span style="font-family: Arial;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn&#8217;t know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. So, in any emergency situation, the Emergency Service Personnel and Hospital Staff would be able to quickly find and contact the right person, if you are not able to say or show, by simply dialing the number you have stored as &#8216;ICE.&#8217; </span></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; color: #fd0000;"><strong><em><span style="font-size: medium;">FOR MORE THAN ONE CONTACT name simply enter ICE1,ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea I also trust can and will make a difference!</span></em></strong></span><span style="font-family: Arial;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">Let&#8217;s spread the concept of ICE by storing </span></strong></span><span style="font-family: Comic Sans MS;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></strong></span><span style="font-family: Comic Sans MS;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">an ICE number in our </span></strong></span><span style="font-family: Arial;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">Mobile phones today! </span></strong></span></p>
<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"><span style="font-size: medium;"> <span style="font-family: Comic Sans MS; color: #fd005d;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">Please forward this to pals and friends and family. <span style="font-family: Comic Sans MS; color: #fd005d;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">Before too many &#8216;forwards&#8217;, everybody will know about this. </span></strong></span><span style="font-family: Comic Sans MS; color: #fd005d;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">This could save a life, yours or someone, and also put a loved one&#8217;s mind at rest</span></strong></span><span style="font-family: Comic Sans MS;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">.</span></strong></span></span></strong></span></span></span></div>
<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"><span style="font-size: medium;"> Your ICE will speak for you when you are not able to !!!</span></span></div>

<p style="text-align: left;">Mimi did a presentation and she used this youtube video clip to emphasize the fast changing technology that we face today.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Did you know?</strong><br />
The average North American<br />
will have 10-14 jobs by the time he/she reaches 38 years.<br />
1 in 4 employees will have worked  for the same employer less than a year.<br />
1 in 2 employees will have worked for the same employer less than 5 years.<br />
1 in 8 couples met online<br />
A student in a 4-year technical college will have half of what he learned become outdated by his third year of study.<br />
In 1984, there were 1000 internet devices.<br />
In 1992, there were 1,000,000 internet devices.<br />
In 2008, there were 1,000,000,000 internet devices.<br />
The amount of time it takes to reach an audience of 50 million.<br />
